7 kW AC Wallbox Charging Pile — Klitv AC EV charging station

The 7 kW AC Wallbox is Klitv’s space-efficient wall-mounted charging solution designed for residential complexes, workplace parking, and commercial properties. With an ultra-compact 133 × 580 × 265 mm enclosure and integrated smart connectivity, it delivers reliable Level 2 AC charging in environments where space is at a premium and aesthetic integration matters.

At 7 kW (220V, 32A), the wallbox adds approximately 35–50 km of range per hour, enabling a full charge for most passenger EVs during overnight parking or a standard workday. This makes it ideal for any location where vehicles park for 2+ hours — apartments, office buildings, hotels, and retail car parks.

Technical Design

Installation and Connectivity

The wall-mounted design supports rear-entry or bottom-entry cable routing, keeping the installation clean and the cable path hidden. Weighing under 8 kg, a single electrician can complete the physical mount and electrical connection within a standard installation window.

The unit supports three networking modes — WiFi, wired Ethernet, and 4G — ensuring reliable connectivity regardless of site network infrastructure. The companion mobile app enables individual users to schedule charging sessions during off-peak hours, monitor energy consumption, and review charging history from their phone.

Safety and Protection

The wallbox incorporates a comprehensive electrical protection suite:

  1. Built-in Type A RCD with 6mA DC leakage detection — compliant with IEC 61851-1 and IEC 62196-2 safety requirements
  2. Overvoltage and undervoltage protection — automatically suspends charging if grid voltage leaves safe range
  3. Overcurrent and short circuit protection — instantaneous shutdown on fault detection
  4. Overtemperature monitoring — reduces or suspends output if internal temperature exceeds safe threshold
  5. PEN fault detection — compatible with TN-C-S earthing systems common in residential installations

Smart Charging and Load Management

OCPP 1.6J compliance enables integration with any OCPP-compatible charging management system. When connected to a CMS, multiple wallbox units participate in dynamic load balancing — automatically distributing available building capacity across active charging sessions to prevent electrical overload while maximising the number of vehicles that can charge simultaneously. For multi-unit residential buildings, this capability eliminates the need for expensive grid connection upgrades.

Use Case: Multi-Unit Residential Building

A typical deployment for a 50-unit apartment building might consist of:

  • 12× 7 kW wallbox units in dedicated EV parking bays
  • OCPP CMS managing all 12 units from a single dashboard
  • Dynamic load balancing across all units, capped at the building’s dedicated EV circuit capacity
  • App-based access enabling residents to reserve bays, schedule charging, and track costs

Residents plug in on arrival and the system automatically distributes available power and schedules sessions during off-peak electricity rate windows when configured. The building management receives aggregated usage reports for cost allocation and sustainability reporting — without manual meter readings or resident billing disputes.

Deployment Specifications

Electrical Requirements

The 7 kW wallbox requires a single-phase 220V supply with a dedicated 40A circuit breaker. Cable sizing depends on the run length from the distribution board to the charger mounting location. A qualified electrician should perform a load calculation before installation to confirm existing panel capacity.

Installation Requirements

The 133 × 580 mm wall footprint requires a solid mounting surface — concrete, brick, or structural wall. The unit should be installed at 1,200–1,500 mm height (centre of unit) for comfortable cable handling. All electrical and mounting specifications are provided in the installation manual included with each unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between wallbox and pedestal chargers? +

Wallbox chargers mount directly to a wall and are ideal for garages, building walls, and covered parking. Vertical installation chargers stand independently on a floor-mounted column and are better for open parking lots and outdoor locations where wall mounting is not feasible. Both deliver 7 kW AC power and support the same smart features.

Can this wallbox be installed outdoors? +

Yes. The IP54-rated enclosure protects against rain, dust, and temperature extremes. For optimal performance, we recommend installing under a canopy or in covered parking when possible, especially in regions with heavy rainfall or direct sun exposure.

Does the wallbox support load balancing across multiple units? +

Yes. When connected via OCPP to a charging management system, multiple wallbox units can participate in dynamic load balancing, automatically distributing available power to prevent electrical overload while maximizing the number of vehicles that can charge simultaneously.
